MUSEUM SUPPORT OFFICER

We are looking to appoint a Museum Support Officer to help the smooth running of Crewe Heritage Centre, acting as the first point of contact for the museum and providing administrative support.

 

Hours:                             37 hours / week

Job Type:                        Permanent

Salary:                             £28,000 p.a.

This role is perfect for someone who loves working with people, has excellent organisational skills and is a brilliant communicator.  Crewe Heritage Centre is a busy, vibrant community of volunteers and visitors who share a passion for the heritage of Crewe.

 

What would you be doing day to day?

As the Museum Support Officer, you will provide excellent customer care, handling all enquiries and bookings for the Centre. You will support the financial administration, manage a range of databases and the Centre diary. Your role will support the Heritage Centre Manager to administer our membership and support our volunteers. This will include managing rotas, supporting recruitment and arranging training. You will help promote the museum by listing our events on our website and external event sites, scheduling social media content and compiling newsletters. You will also support the trustees with creating meeting packs and taking minutes, as well as communicating decisions. In addition, there will be a chance for you to be involved in managing the collection by completing paperwork and supporting environmental monitoring.

 

What would you bring to the role?

Firstly, you will share our passion for Crewe’s heritage and creating brilliant visitor experiences. You will provide excellent customer care and be confident communicating with a range of people, including volunteers, visitors, contractors and trustees. You will have experience of working in a busy office environment and be comfortable working on your own initiative, but you will also be happy working as part of a team. You will be organised and used to multi-tasking. You will have an eye for detail and accuracy, and you will be competent using IT and common software such as Microsoft Office, as well as learning new software including Xero, collection management systems and ticketing systems.  Although you will mostly work weekdays, we will need you to work some weekends and evenings, so a willingness to be flexible is also important.
