Assistance/ guide dogs are welcome throughout the Heritage Centre with water bowls and treats available at the North Junction Signal Box and a waste bin available at the museum entrance.

Unfortunately they will not be able to accompany visitors on our Miniature Railway. They will be allowed as far as the attractions stations where they must be left with another member of your party – they must never be left unattended anywhere in the museum.

We offer a number of spaces on a first come, first served basis for those who have a Blue Badge identifying a mobility issue. Our disabled parking is located at the main entrance to the museum, spaces can fill up fast so we recommend getting to the Heritage Centre early. On larger event days we may limit access to our main car park to blue badge holders only.

We welcome and support visitors who choose to wear a Sunflower item as part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme. We are not able to provide Sunflower items, however you can find out more about the scheme on the Hidden Disabilities website.

Due to the location of Crewe Heritage Centre, there are parts of the museum that can become quite loud. Attractions such as our Miniature Railway use petrol engines to propel the ride. The guard also uses a whistle to communicate with the driver. It is recommended that passengers with a sensitivity to loud noises sit in the centre of the train for the best possible experience. Also please have a word with the guard prior to boarding the train to discuss any such sensitivities.

Due to our close proximity to the UK rail network parts of the museum grounds can experience loud sounds from passing trains with very little notice. If this is likely to cause you or a member of your group discomfort we recommend visiting between the hours of 10:00 - 12:00 on Sundays and bank holidays as traffic on the railway is often reduced during these times.

Picnic and seating areas are located around the Heritage Centre, our picnic areas are located on both grasses and paved areas and are all accessible step free.

Toilets can be found outside the entrance to the main hall. We have a portable accessible toilet which also has baby changing facilities. This is larger than a standard portaloo, however larger accessible devices. may struggle to fit and be maneuvered inside.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own wheelchair, or motorised scooter in order to get around the Heritage Centre. These ideally should be used along pedestrian routes, taking care to avoid collision and blocking paths.

Please remember that the Crewe Heritage Centre is a 2.1 hectare indoor and outdoor museum, so don’t forget to charge your scooter before arriving.
