🌿 Creative Crewe: Nature-Based Activities

We’re delighted to welcome Creative Crewe, who will be delivering a range of engaging, nature-based activities for all ages. Perfect for families, these sessions will inspire creativity and encourage everyone to connect with the natural world through fun, interactive experiences.

🌱 Dig for Victory Workshop with artist Francesca Chinnery

Step back in time and discover how communities in wartime Crewe made the most of limited resources.

Join artist Francesca Chinnery for a Dig for Victory workshop.

In this hands-on session, you can:

  • Decorate your own plant pot/name stick.

  • Plant herbs such as thyme, mint, sage, or chives to take home

  • Explore original Dig for Victory posters

  • Learn about authentic Second World War recipes

  • Discover how families grew their own food and adapted to rationing

It’s a creative and educational experience that brings local history to life in a fun and accessible way.

All activities are suitable for families and completely FREE – come along and get involved!

What else can you explore…

From big locomotives to miniature adventures, there’s loads to see, do and experience at Crewe Heritage Centre!

Climb aboard for a ride on our miniature railway, then check out the impressive detail of our model railway layouts. Explore the powerful stories of the past in the Crewe at War exhibition and through our iconic objects including the Whitby Morrison Ice Cream vans.

Get up close to real railway giants, including the 8000th locomotive built at Crewe Works and the record‑breaking APT‑P. Head to our elevated viewing platform for unbeatable sights of the West Coast Main Line & Chester Line. And discover how trains were once controlled through our historic signalling displays.

Make the most of your visit with a trip to our shop, relax with refreshments in the café, and let younger visitors explore, play, and learn in the Kids Activity Area.

Join us for a fun, action‑packed day celebrating Crewe’s unique story!
