Crewe Heritage Centre launches packed summer programme of family fun!

From railway adventures and wildlife discoveries to crafts, creativity and hands-on history, Crewe Heritage Centre is inviting families to make tracks for a summer packed with fun.

The Centre's Summer Programme launches on Saturday 18 July and runs until 31 August, bringing six weeks of extra activities alongside the attraction's popular exhibitions, locomotives and family experiences.

‍The Centre will be open every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer holidays, plus Bank Holiday Monday, from 10am to 4.30pm (last admission 3.30pm).

‍Wednesdays are free to everyone throughout the summer holidays, with additional activities taking place as part of Crewe Town Council's Summer Festival of Fun. Funding from the Town Council has helped support an exciting programme of family activities designed to inspire creativity, curiosity and exploration. On Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday, normal admission charges apply, with children admitted free.

‍Visitors can enjoy activities exploring nature, local history, creativity and railways, delivered in partnership with organisations including the RSPB, Little Sprouts, Creative Crewe, Cheshire Archives and artist Debbie Goldsmith.

‍Families can become trackside habitat explorers, create homes for wildlife, make bug hotels, discover the secrets of historical medicines, take part in creative craft sessions and enjoy art workshops inspired by everything from nature and space to the seaside.

‍One of the highlights of the programme will be the Centre's free Wednesday opening days, giving families the opportunity to enjoy creative workshops, wildlife activities, crafts and hands-on learning experiences at no cost throughout the school holidays.

‍ Alongside the summer programme, visitors can enjoy all the attractions that make Crewe Heritage Centre one of the town's favourite family destinations.

‍From giant locomotives to miniature adventures, visitors can ride the miniature railway, explore detailed model railway layouts, discover powerful stories in the Crewe at War exhibition and get up close to iconic objects including the famous Whitby Morrison ice cream vans.

‍Families can also see the 8000th locomotive built at Crewe Works and the record-breaking APT-P, enjoy panoramic views from the elevated viewing platform overlooking the West Coast Main Line and Chester Line, and explore the Centre's historic signalling displays.

‍The site also features a café, shop and dedicated children's activity area.
